Going up?
Booting up a 50-degree couloir is the definition of type 2 fun - until you're waist deep in sugar snow. Our ascent plates are designed to provide the flotation you need in steep, technical terrain where crampons alone aren't enough and skis are no longer an option. We only have a few pairs of this version, get them before they are gone!
Features & Performance
- Vertical Efficiency: Designed to give you a stable platform in soft or variable snow conditions.
- No More Wading: you ain't fishing, so why are you wasting energy wading in deep snow? Our Ascent Plates make it much, much easier to climb in steep snow.
- Universal Compatibility: Engineered for universal fit with most standard mountaineering and technical crampon systems.
- Low Profile: slim design allows them to be easily lashed to the side of a backpack or tucked away when the terrain levels out.
Technical Specs
- Materials: CNC machined aluminum.
- Weight: 316 grams per pair (ultra-light for the dedicated skimo kit).
-
Finish: OG smile logo printed on the bottom
Use & Compatibility
- Crampon Fit: Designed to integrate seamlessly underfoot with your existing crampons.
- Boot Size: The ascent plates have been tested on boots between 278 - 297 BSL. Larger boots shouldn't have an issue but shorter boots might not fit on the plate platform properly.
- Terrain: Ideal for steep snow couloirs, ridge scrambles, and spring mountaineering objectives.
- Installation: simple, tool-free attachment in the field so you don't lose time at the transition.
Please Note:
- Ascent plates have a universal fit and work with a variety of types of crampons. Not sure if your crampons will work? Hit us up at typetwogear@gmail.com and we will get you sorted.
- These ascent plates are made of thin aluminum and will bend in variable snow conditions. Bend/punch them back to flat after skiing your objective.
